TMETC looks ahead with local students at Your Green Future

On 2nd-3rd March, Tata Motors European Technical Centre (TMETC) attended the Your Green Future event for schools across Solihull and Birmingham, organised by Severn Wye Energy Agency.

Held at Solihull College Conference Centre, over 400 students from 19 local secondary schools had the chance to work alongside 35 businesses and universities in a series of creative challenges that addressed the businesses' real life sustainability issues.

TMETC displayed a Tata Vista EV (electric vehicle) and asked students for fictional funding to design and develop the company's next EV in a Dragon Den's style ‘Your Innovative Future' workshop. Going up against sister company Jaguar Land Rover, the competition was fierce, with students asking challenging questions to ensure that they would have a good return on their investment.

"Attending Your Green Future was an insightful and rewarding experience," Claire Packer, TMETC's Marketing and Communications Manager said. "The students were very knowledgeable about the automotive industry and had novel solutions as to how it could become greener going forward. The way we work today will affect these students in the future, so it was encouraging to see them taking such an interest in sustainability."
