TMETC staff raise cash for homeless charity

Kind-hearted TMETC employees cooked up a feast to raise more than £750 for a local homeless charity.

Staff based at NAIC were invited to enjoy a two-course meal, with donations going to Hope4.

Dozens of colleagues volunteered their time to make the event a success and an impressive £777 was raised.

Hope4 aims to relieve poverty among homeless and badly-housed people in the Borough of Rugby and works to prevent homelessness.

The charity is particularly busy during the winter as it works to provide people with warm food and clothing, as well as temporary accommodation.

A TMETC spokesman said: "This fundraiser really showed the true TMETC community spirit with a number people volunteering to help, and many more getting involved to make the charity sale a huge success".

"Some colleagues also brought in meal packs which they were able to distribute to people sleeping rough in the area.

"Hope4 Rugby is a fabulous group of people and I've been really touched by what they do to meet the very basic needs of humanity."

Curry and rice was on offer, as well as samosas, Indian sweets, payasam, egg puff, cakes and soft drinks.
