Body, Trim and Lighting

TMETC's Body, Trim and Lighting team contains a combination of experienced engineers in body, closures, cockpit, lighting, seating, and interior and exterior trim who have worked around the world on a variety of engineering projects, meeting world class standards for European, Asian and US Federal markets.

Specific areas of competency include:

Concept layout and clay model feasibility - From clean sheet design to the use of the customer's platform and carry over components, plus the generation of target setting documents, product design specifications, initial bill of design, and bill of process.

Body stiffness - Optimised using global and local modal performance. Driving up global body modes, for both trimmed and untrimmed models, using the latest CAE tools ensures a lightweight, stiff, robust, and durable structure.

Weight - Employing the principle of 'right material in the right place' through the use of new materials and moulding concepts. The choice of the right material is based on customer constraints, market constraints and market availability to give optimum material selection at the right cost.

Closures - Development and integration of closures and hardware systems that meet and compete with world class standards.

Cockpit - Development and integration of instrument panel, centre console, steering wheel, and HVAC.

Lighting - Performance optimisation through in-house photometric analysis, coordination of weight optimisation techniques, benchmarking, and optimisation of physical parts.

Seating - Development and integration of both traditional and advanced lightweight seating systems.

Within all functions, the central capability is from engineering concept development to stable production - including feasibility studies, DFMEA, 3D CAD design, modelling, 2D detail drawings, production drawing release, production maturation, and change control.
