Electrical and Energy Storage

The Electrical and Energy Storage (EE) department's primary function is to support Tata Motors' electrical departments in both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles divisions.

Areas of competency include energy storage systems (batteries and battery management systems), electrical distribution systems, power systems, system integration, high voltage electric vehicle systems and supplier process development.

Engineering delivery tools and techniques include 'Lucid' design and simulation software, Vesys for schematic capture and a variety of system integration tools, including CANalyzer, CANStress and network management tools.

Facilities used to support the EE department include an electrical laboratory within TMETC that is available to allow small scale prototype work and component analysis to be undertaken.

Larger whole vehicle prototype development is undertaken at TMETC's workshop sited at Gaydon and a lab car that has been constructed to allow system integration, validation and commissioning to be undertaken in a controlled manner, thereby de-risking actual prototype and development vehicle builds.
